AALC launched the "Best of Our Abilities" contest for Supportive Living to recognize all the great men and women with disabilities who go out of their way to make their community a better place to live.

What a great year for the Best of Abilities contest.  This year nominations were so good that we decided to name TWO winners!  We want to congratulate Karen Moneyhon and Margie Wade, both from Deer Path!

2017 Winners

Karen Moneyhon Co-Winner Karen has always loved teaching art and is more than happy to share her talents with all the residents. In fact, she has stated that sharing her craft is one of her favorite parts of being part of the Dear Path community.  She dreamed of teaching art and now she has the opportunity.  Her great pleasure is giving people a sense of purpose, well-being and hope.   Before coming to Deer Path, she felt “she was living under a black cloud and now there is sunshine in her life.” These days she says, “I get up with a smile!” and is eager to help residents at Deer Path.

Adding to her busy schedule, she also co-hosts Bingo each Tuesday night with another resident and she hosted the first Geography Bee. Margie is spirited; in fact she takes it upon herself to decorate the building for the holidays.  Margie has said that since moving to Deer Path, she gets to serve people and overall her life has found purpose again.
